Broken home

Distant memories linger in the back of a small child's mind.
tear stained cheeks,
show the pain of a broken home.
a longing for comfort and protection
pulls at her heart.

not a day goes by that she doesn't
remember that day.

the day that happiness drifted away
soon split at a third,
two to go their own way.
praying for a call on a birthday or
holiday

a sisterly bond never torn or tattered.
photographs and memory's are the
only history.
their future is such a mystery

eyes big and brown
innocence not yet spoiled.
drunken nights & fight after fight

her dimpled hand's cover the ears
of a beloved brother
to deafen him from the never ending
screams. forced to grow up to soon
she crawls into bed
bows her head,
to pray for all this pain to soon end.
maybe one day
they will all be together again.

Graduation

It's already here that day we wait for.
The day we move on with life
We've gone through it all
Our last four years
Good times, bad times
Hard times, easy times
The moments we had we'll cherish forever.

Walk down that path
While they say our names
We Shake the hand of success
And Receive our diplomas

We aren't little kids anymore
We are adults now
No more high school
All we have are the memories

Dream Deferred

What happens to a dream deferred

does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
or fester like a sore-
and then run?
does it stink like rotten meat?
or crust and sugar over-
like syrupy sweet?

maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

or does it explode?

~Langston Hughes (1902-1967)

how you make me aspire

like an angel i admire

a jewel that goes higher and higher

how you make me aspire

Riddle

I'm surrounded by a Brilliant Luminous light
Laughter and ecstasy fills the air around me
Wildlife, and foliage make a home
I'm as warm as the suns beating rays
a crash and curl of the earths waves
at the end of the day all life goes away
only to start up another day

What am I?

Answer

Two Tone Poem

My life is like a soft summer breeze
Kelly green open and free
The warmth from the sun's ray's race across my face
Wind blowing through the meadows like a soft whisper to a friend

Happiness surrounds me
filling my heart with joy
Masking the pain and sorrow
giving hope for a new tomorrow

I am a royal purple butterfly
Fluttering through the sky
A crash and burn of a never ending dream
Content and courageous
I am who I am
I am just me
